Meet the Crew

Robert Barneman

President

 robbyb@bssexteriors.com

Shortly after moving to Brevard, Ed and Colleen Barneman received a surprise package from the stork! That surprise package was their son, Rob. Rob grew up in BSS Exteriors. Whether it was playing in the playpen at the office as a baby, working summers with installers as a helper, or coming home from college to deliver storm panels on the weekends, Rob has always been around the company. So, it made perfect sense that, after college, Rob would find himself back at BSS. Watching his dad grow the business from inception, Rob developed his business sense, but also cultivated an ambition towards diversity within the trades. This spirit was the driving force behind the expansion into manufacturing storm shutter products in 2014, becoming a wholesale storm shutter provider focused on the contractor. Rob is also very proud of his vision and goals for the company coming into the digital age of construction. In 2020, BSS Exteriors implemented a completely digital, streamlined, construction management program. This program includes mobile devices for installers and technicians, a paperless workflow system, and highly efficient financial management software, all of which are something not considered normal for a typical "aluminum contractor." Rob is married to his best friend, with whom they have 2 beautiful daughters. On the weekends, you can find Rob tinkering with wood-working projects, playing drums at church, driving the tractor, or in Gainesville...down "where the old Gators play!"

Al Booth

Operations Manager

 al@bssexteriors.com

BSS Exteriors was started in 1985. Not long after that, a young teenager responded to an ad in the newspaper for a part-time installer position. That teenager, was Al Booth, and the position would prove to alter the course of his life. Al worked for many, many years alongside Ed Barneman, our founder, learning the trade and developing a keen business sense. Through the years, Al started his own businesses and enjoyed many successes, putting these skills to work. His hard work ethic and loyalty is unmatched. Now, after all these years, Al has come full-circle back to the beginning, working alongside Rob, Ed's son, to grow BSS even more. He enjoys camping, boating, and listening to music. On Saturdays, he can be found rooting on the Florida Gators with his wonderful wife, Amy. Al is most proud of his daughter, who graduated from Miami University. She has recently begun her career in the corporate marketing world. Lord help us...there are now TWO Al Booth's out there!

Scott Weaver

Sales Manager

 scott@bssexteriors.com

Scott may be the sales manager at BSS, but that is a great departure from what Scott has done for most of his career. For nearly 25 years, Scott worked early hours managing unload/loading operations at a well-known shipping company. (Hint: it has a lot of brown!) Being a part of such a large corporation has given Scott a complete understanding for systems and processes. In 2018, upon retiring from UPS, Scott went full-time at BSS (part-time since 2013), bringing along with him that very understanding to help grow our sales. Scott has a lovely wife, two amazing daughters, and even a grand-puppy! Scott spends most of his free time coaching high school softball, but generally never stops going! His interests include watching classic horror films, enjoying all genres of music, barbecuing, and making your home renovation dreams come to life!

Eddie Rosado

Production Manager

 eddie@bssexteriors.com

West Philadelphia, not born, but raised! For a year or two anyway! But in reality, Eddie hails from the Garden State...land of tomatoes, full-service gasoline, and a killer calzone! Thats right, Eddie is really a Jersey guy. Eddie never imagined having a career in construction after moving to Florida in high school, it just sort of happened. Trying his hand in way too many retail locations after school, Eddie came on board with BSS Exteriors just looking for something different. However, Eddie doesn't normally blend in. So naturally he didn't at our company, either. Eddie's inner desire to help everyone has landed him in many different, but valuable positions at BSS. Currently, Eddie schedules all our crews and runs the production on most of the jobs we perform here at BSS Exteriors. Eddie is married to his wonderful wife and has 2 beautiful children.

Dan Cannon

Shop Manager

 dan@bssexteriors.com

Dan is no longer the new guy on the management team. Instead, he's now the aged veteran who offers sage wisdom to all who desire! Dan heads up our storm shutter manufacturing. He oversees all construction, assembly, and installation of manufactured storm shutters. He works hand in hand with homeowners to give them elite service, as well as our retail shutter customers to provide the support we have come to be known for in that market. Daniel has been in the storm shutter industry for nearly a decade, and has amassed a vast knowledge in all things construction. He is a family man, who was born and raised right here in Brevard County. He loves spending time with his wife and three children, as well as riding ATV's.

Kaleb Swancott

Office Manager

 kaleb@bssexteriors.com

Kaleb is our newest addition to the management team at BSS Exteriors. Although, she doesn't show it! She fits in around here like a glove. Kaleb is a local girl who graduated from UCF. For many years, she enjoyed a career in healthcare administration, gaining valuable office knowledge and interpersonal relationship skills. However, desiring a change of pace and different scenery, Kaleb made the leap to our ship in 2024. Utilizing her talents and skills learned from the healthcare industry, Kaleb looks forward to continuing the process of digitally streamlining the way our company navigates the exterior remodeling business. Kaleb is married to Cole, and has 2 handsome bundles of chaos and energy, err....we mean boys! Kaleb loves attending way too many concerts, watching mediocre football teams (aforementioned school in Orlando), and driving her husband places.

Justin Stitely

Shop Foreman/Safety Coordinator

 justin.s@bssexteriors.com

Justin is another one of those guys who seemingly found his way to BSS Exteriors by accident. We're sure glad he did though! Justin has become a highly skilled foreman since joining the crew. He leads his team with precision and dedication, with a focus on quality. He also has a very strong commitment to safety, as he serves as the safety coordinator here at BSS. Justin derives immense satisfaction from seeing a project through to its completion and takes pride in exceeding customer expectations with the final look of their homes. When not in the shop or on the jobsite, Justin cherishes quality time with his loving wife and two children. He enjoys maintaining his home, cooking on the grill, visiting the gun range, and caring for his two cats and a dog.

Shyan Aaron

Administrative Assistant

 shyan.c@bssexteriors.com

In offices across the country, there is always that one person who can be counted on. Counted on to bring light into the day no matter what the scenario. For us, that person is Shyan. She probably doesn't realize it, but her steadiness and quiet resolve, helps set the tone for our office on a daily basis. She might not be the loudest or the most vocal in the office, but she leads by example and is always smiling! Aside from coordinating all of our subcontractors, Shyan handles most of the day-to-day office functions. She is married to her husband Dominic, and has one son. They enjoy going to concerts and practicing Karate as a family.

Janice Oppelt

Permit Coordinator

 janice@bssexteriors.com

Janice comes to us with a long history in retail. After 25+ years in a personnel position at a large wholesale warehouse, she was looking for a change of pace. She has filled many roles at BSS, often times filling the gap out of necessity. In every role, she has excelled and helped our company grow. Currently, Janice has found her niche in coordinating our permits for the entire company. If you work with us, chances are pretty good that you'll have the pleasure of speaking with Janice at some point! Janice enjoys spending time with her children and 8 grandkids! She also is a lover of all things chocolate, and travels with her own supply of Diet Coke!

Frankie Amaro Ortiz

Service Technician

 frankie.o@bssexteriors.com

Every construction company needs a guy who just "gets it done." AT BSS Exteriors, Frankie is that guy. Frankie has been around pretty much all of the trades from framing to painting. However, Frankie came to us from the roofing industry. After one too many hot Florida summers, Frankie felt the desire to get down off the roof. At BSS, he sort of does it all. Aside from installing and delivering many of our storm shutter jobs, he also performs the services for nearly every trade we do. And when needed, he offers his expertise to our roofing department. Frankie has a full house at home, but wouldn't have it any other way. He lives with his wife, 3 daughters, 1 son, and 2 AWESOME grandchildren. On weekends you can find Frankie manning the BBQ or sinking putts at Mini-Golf with his family. He also enjoys traveling as well as visiting his extended family in Puerto Rico!

Jeff Schwitters

Shop Laborer

 jeff.s@bssexteriors.com

Jeff has been around the construction industry most of his adult life. So here at BSS, he finds himself sort of helping out wherever the need is. However, building shutters in the shop is where he can be found most often. Jeff takes pride in making sure the shutters that leave his shop are exactly as requested. And he takes it personally when something is off, going out of his way to make it right. When not at work, Jeff can be found fishing, surfing, or skiing. He enjoys 70's and 80's music, but sadly doesn't have the hair to match! Jeff has also been known to destroy a local taco truck and get down on some sushi.

Levi Cannon

Shop Laborer

 levi.c@bssexteriors.com

Levi might be the youngest employee on staff at BSS, but he's been around for a while. He has been helping out for a few years during summers as well as during school breaks. Yet, we really don't know much about Levi other than what we find out from his dad. Thats because Levi doesn't really talk that much. Like, at all! What we do know about Levi is he builds a mean shutter, does everything asked of him with a smile, and works well with pretty much anyone he's with. But don't try and take his lunch...

Colleen Barneman

Retired Consultant

 colleen@bssexteriors.com

In 1985, Ed Barneman had an idea to start a construction company in Brevard County. At the time, most of our trade was being completed by framers and roofers. Ed had a vision of a company that could improve the quality of work being done, but also be rooted in fair, sustainable, and successful business practices. His history with sheet metal work, and previous career of managing grocery stores, provided Ed with the know-how to get it done. Well, almost! Luckily, he was married to a brilliant accountant with a sharp pencil, and the ability to keep finances in check! Colleen went along for the ride back in 1985, and what a ride it has been. Ed and Colleen were able to build a company with a strong, family-based foundation, that prides itself on relationships. Those relationships, with builders and homeowners alike, have been the cornerstone of our service philosophy at BSS. Since Ed's passing in 2011, Colleen looked forward to the day where she could reap the rewards that they sowed for so many years. Colleen officially retired back in 2020. Her plan was to spend even more time with her grandchildren, enjoy more coffee on the back porch, and do some traveling! But the winding road that Colleen has been on in her unexpected career in construction has somehow led right back here to BSS Exteriors. These days, she comes in for a couple days a week to keep her mind active and her calculator fingers fast as ever. Only now she "volunteers" and comes and goes as she pleases.
